DESCRIPTION:
Early in the morning, departure in
modern tourism buses, from your hotel
in Santa Elena or Flores Peten, for
a 60 minute ride to the enchanting
Archeological site of Yaxha, guided
visit of the site.
The
name Yaxhá means “green
water” refering most surely
to the unparalleled Yaxhá Lagoon.
The site is made up of several plazas
and three Maya causeways which connect
them. From several pyramids in Yaxhá
it is posible to see the lagoon with
its two islands. Yaxhá site
accounts more than 200 archeologican
structures, most of them still uncovered.
This site was recently chosen as the
perfect setting for the 2005 CBS TV
Reality Show “Survivor”.
You will know why Yaxhá is
called “The best kept secret
in the Maya World”. Lunch at
the eco-camping site “El Sombrero”.
A short 15 min. boat transfer will
take us to the archeological site
of Topoxté, located in a small
island with the same name. Topoxté
stands out since it has an archeological
site with well preserved architecture.
Transfer back to the camp site to
take the bus back to Flores Island
or Santa Elena. Transfer to your hotel.
